Universal Pictures International is Russia top distributor for the first nine months of 2015, according to data from the research company Movie Research.
Universal releases grossed a total of 8.72 billion rubles 134.9 million dollars, followed by Twentieth Century Fox CIS, which raked in 7.1 billion rubles 109.5 million dollars.
Walt Disney Studios Sony Pictures Releasing CIS (WDSSPR) was in third place with 6.2 billion rubles 95.9 million dollars.
Karo group, whose Karo Premiere distributes Warner movies and Karo Prokat is a distributor for local movie, was fourth among Russia largest distributors. Its releases grossed 4.8 billion rubles 72.2 million dollars.
Another Russian company, Central Partnership, which distributes Paramount fare alongside local movies, was fifth, with its releases grossing 4.6 billion rubles 71.1 million dollars.
Universal reached the top spot for the first time in years. The successful performance was achieved thanks to several successful releases, including Minions, the year top performer at the Russian box office so far this year and Russia second highest grossing movie of all time.
Currently, 5 movies on Russia top 10 grossing movies, including Furious Seven, Jurassic World, Fifty Shades of Grey and Seventh Son, were released by Universal.
Fox and WDSSPR have two top 10 releases each, and Central Partnership has one.
